Broadband Providers Tempt Consumers Over To The Hd Side

New channels being launched include ITV1 HD Sky Sports 4 HD Hallmark HD and Sky News HD making it the UKs only high definition news channel.

Sky will have over 40 channels available for its customers who take TV with their Sky broadband deals by the summer and an expected 50 channels available by Christmas 2010.

Some of the world"s largest sporting events will now be shown in HD and with the launch of ITV HD some of the nation"s favourite programs including X factor and Coronation Street will all be shown in glorious HD.

Whilst Sky have the most comprehensive HD content they have also thrown in the added bonus offering new customers ÷£50 pounds worth of M&S vouchers when they sign up for broadband, TV and phone deals.

Not content with HD content 3D TV is set to be launched by Sky in 2010 giving its HD customers the chance to experience 3D television in their living rooms.

Sky"s current HD boxes have been built with the capability to show 3D television meaning that those with 3D ready TVs can gain access to the channel with minimal fuss.

Those not lucky enough to own a 3D ready TV might find it difficult to upgrade as it is still relatively new technology and cost the best part of ÷£2000 pounds to have the best TVs on offer.

Virgin media broadband packages have also attempted to get in on the HD action but with minimal success currently only being able to offer a limited number of channels but with an exclusivity deal with Film 4 it is hoped that they will be able to draw some customers away from Sky.

Despite Virgin Media putting up some competition Sky Broadcasting was still able to announce recorded growth in 2009, with this and achieving the mile stone of showing the UKs first live 3D event (Kean Live at Abby Road) the executives at sky are faithful that the UK will embrace 3D television.

With 3D being the current buzz word in the film industry many at Sky will have their fingers crossed that it will translate well to people"s television sets.

The major sticking point may prove to be the technology itself with 3D television not readily available and costing a pretty penny, it may take a few years for the prices to drop.

One thing is for sure Sky is leading the way brining next generation television experiences to its customer"s living rooms.
